Travis Scott & Cactus Jack Foundation launch hotel grant fund with Houston Responds during relief drive to provide temporary housing for displaced local Houston residents
Missouri City, TX — July 17th — Yesterday, Travis Scott's Cactus Jack Foundation, in partnership with the Houston Food Bank, hosted an emergency Hurricane Beryl Relief drive in Missouri City, Texas. Hurricane Beryl caused severe flooding and widespread power outages, impacting nearly 3 million homes and businesses and tragically resulting in the loss of at least eight lives. To provide relief and support, the foundation distributed essential aid, including water, ice, food, and other items, to residents of Texas communities devastated by the storm through a drive-through system, operating on a first-come, first-served basis. Over 2 million residents are currently without power in Missouri City, making this location the ideal distribution point to focus efforts, and serve 2,000 local families.
During the drive, the Cactus Jack Foundation, in partnership with disaster response organization Houston Responds, launched an emergency hotel grant fund to provide temporary housing for displaced Houston residents without electricity due to Hurricane Beryl. This emergency program helps families find immediate shelter in nearby hotels, offering crucial relief during this challenging time. Residents attending the drive were encouraged to apply on-site for housing grants to receive hotel vouchers. In attendance, on behalf of the Cactus Jack Foundation, were Scott’s family, including his mother, brother, and sister Jordan Webster, the foundation’s spokesperson.
This collaboration rapid response initiative represents a significant step toward addressing the immediate housing and essential needs of those affected by Hurricane Beryl. By combining resources and expertise, the Cactus Jack Foundation, Houston Food Bank and Houston Responds collectively aim to provide a safety net for families without power, ensuring they have a secure and comfortable place to stay and access to necessary items as they navigate the aftermath of the hurricane.
